Latest news on the Cold Springs sponsored car:

Well it’s finally here…your chance to see your hard work pay off.  Super Dave Sanborn and the #24 Cold Springs RV sponsored Supermodified will be at All-Star Speedway Saturday, September 8th.

The ISMA Supermodifieds are the ‘fastest short track’ races in the country.  Really, I wouldn’t lie to you.  They are.  When they hit the track, top speeds can exceed 170 mph…let me say that again… 170 MPH.  Your heart will race, your eyes burn, you will feel the ground pound under your feet.  There is nothing else like it.  Racing starts at 5pm, but you will want to get there before then (I would recommend arriving around 6:30pm).

Pack the family up and head down to All-Star Speedway Saturday September 8th, for an incredible show.  You won’t regret it.

Oswego Speedway, August 31, 2007

Super Dave Sanborn did it once again.  With no laps turned for practice and not able to do time trials, the team figured they would just pack it up and head home.  Giving it the ‘old college try’, and a little help from Oswego Super Driver Barry Kingsley, the Lightening Bolts changed a magneto and they were off, literally.  The #24 Cold Springs RV, Swisset Tool Co., sponsored car started in 24th, worked all the way up to 15th, and at the end of 50 laps, Super Dave was 18th.

With no laps on the track, Super Dave was happy with 18th, as was the crew.  Everyone worked hard and their efforts paid off.  “It was a little nerve racking to go out for the race with no practice, the car handled awesome.  It was great to finally race at the track that is so rich in supermodified history”.

Next up, All-Star Speedway in Epping, NH, Saturday, September 8th. Do not forget, we can do company functions at most of these tracks.  If you are interested, please call me and we can set it up.

See you at the races,
Kristina Sanborn

Lee USA Speedway, August 17, 2007

Super Dave Sanborn was on home turf August 17th at Lee USA Speedway.  Dave started on the pole for heat #3 only to finish 5th.  During the feature event, Super Dave would start 15th to finish in 13th.

The dejected and slightly confused crew could only scratch their heads at what to do with the car.  With only 36 laps in the book, the #24 Cold Springs RV, Swisset Tool Co., sponsored car would have to pull it in with an overheating problem.  Yet, the crew and driver were extremely happy and excited about how the car handled at the beginning of the race.

Oxford Plains Speedway, August 18, 2007
The drought is over!  After a few races of watching the races from the pits or grandstand area, Super Dave was finally able to watch the race from the car.

The crew struggled in the heat race to figure out the tricky 1/3 mile oval, overall Dave was happy with the car.  He started the feature in 18th, the car was a little too tight, so while he didn’t lose any positions, he didn’t gain any either.

At an early caution, the crew made some excellent adjustments.  Super Dave restarted tail of the field.  After the pit stop, the car was handling “awesome”.  The #24 Cold Springs RV, Swisset Tool Co., sponsored car proceeded to race it’s way up to 7th but a late race caution caused Super Dave to get boxed in behind a lap car.  This caused him to lose a few positions, but the #24 Cold Springs RV, Swisset Tool Co., supermodified would cross the checkers in 11th.

Thank you to the crew, Codeman, Mad Mike, Lenny, Jack, Joe and everyone else who stopped by and pitched in.

#24 ISMA Supermodified
Super Dave Sanborn
Sandusky Speedway
July 27-28, 2007

Well if it wasn’t the threat of lightning, being washed away in the floods, then it simply was just a case of bad luck.  Sandusky is a hard track to tame.  She has a mind of her own and isn’t real interested in helping the rookies or for that matter, the experts out.  Super Dave Sanborn tried his best, the crew worked hard all weekend long, but when you are up against the best in the business, add in there the local drivers who race at the track, it’s a hard field to make.

Both Friday and Saturday were tough for the Northern Lite Racing team.  The Lightning Bolts worked through the rain, thunder and lightning to put an awesome car under Super Dave.  Unfortunately, when 43 drivers try and make the field of only 26, many drivers have to go home.

Drivers such as NCTS driver Johnny Benson, Jr., Stafford Motor Speedway feature winner Robbie Summers and Jennerstown heat winner Vern Romanoski made the field but only with provisionals.  Word also had it that a local MSA driver had been trying for ten years to make the Hy-Miler Nationals and Saturday night was the first time he made it.

So while Super Dave Sanborn and the Northern Lite Racing team had a bit of bad luck, and didn’t make the field either night, it was still good.  The team learned a lot about the track, they took excellent notes and have a better idea of what to expect next year.  The team is now ready to head to Mansfield, OH for yet another show, so keep your fingers and toes crossed.

Super Dave Sanborn of Tilton , NH ran with the Big dogs over the weekend.  The ISMA tour ran Toledo Speedway on Friday night and M-40 Speedway on Saturday.

In only the 2nd race of the season, Friday night (Toledo Speedway in Toledo , OH), Super Dave started 8th in the heat and finished 5th.  During the feature he started 13th out of 22, fell back once but marched up through the field to a spectacular 8th place finish.

The 3rd race (M-40 Speedway, Jones, MI) saw Super Dave riding shotgun once again in the heat race.  He was involved in a spin on the first lap but was able to fire the car back up and continue.  In the end Super Dave held off Mike Ordway, Jr. the last 4 laps to take 5th.

Super Dave started outside poll for the feature event.  But was quickly hung out to dry and was freight-trained.  He fell back to 11th where he would remain until lap 25.  On lap 245 Super Dave took over the 10th place spot where he remained at the checkers.

Next scheduled event, Jennerstown , PA on Saturday July 7 and then Stafford Springs , CT July 10.

Race Results to Date:

Memorial Weekend
May 26, 2007

Super Dave Sanborn celebrated the long weekend with his first race of the season.  The ISMA tour was in Waterford CT. and the sparks were flying.  Now don’t worry, Dave didn’t live up to the excitement he normally provides (remember 4th of July at White Mountain a few years ago??), but he did create quite a buzz.

The #24 ISMA Supermodified spent the week at the Crystal Mall in Waterford.  From what I understand the #24 created a stir at the mall.  Bill Roth, Marketing & Promotions at Waterford Speedbowl told me a little story….

He said that one particular fan of the Supers, saw on the track website that the #24 ISMA Supermodified would be at the Crystal Mall.  This fan knew he would not make it into the pits on race day to see these cars up close and personal, so he went to the mall to see Super Dave’s car.  This fan was completely awed by the car.

Now that’s awesome….!!!!  Thank you to all you fans, you are awesome!

Now on to the good stuff.  Super Dave started 6th out of 10 in the third heat race.  You heard me correctly, 3 heat races.  At the line, he ended up 6th by a nose, but it was close.  For the feature, the #24 Supermodified started 15th out of 27.  While battling the 5th place car, losing ground and gaining ground, after only 7 trips around the track, Super Dave was forced to park the car due to a broken power steering line.

While he was only able to get 7 laps in, the knowledge and experienced gained will only benefit the team for the next round.
Next on the schedule is the Toledo Speedway in Toledo Ohio (6/15) and M-40 Speedway in Berlin Michigan (6/16).
